Anchors aweigh! In this revamped edition of 1991 s turn-based strategy game Lost Admiral, players command a mighty fleet duking it out on the high seas against a computer opponent. The object is to destroy opposing ships, capture unfriendly ports, and climb the ranks. To do it, you ll need to carefully manage resources and assemble the right mix of attack and support craft. The game ought to be more involving than it is. Part of the problem is the dated graphics. Even more distracting is the clumsy interface, which makes controlling your fleet a real chore. Despite extensive context-based help, it s often hard to figure out what your options are. These major drawbacks spoil an otherwise well-developed game, which offers a variety of missions, an impressive campaign mode, and superb AI. Fans of the original may enjoy this update, but others will wish Lost Admiral Returns had spent more time in dry-dock.
