Although it lets you turn both still images and video files into jigsaw puzzles, this application lacks polish and a user-friendly design. Upon launch, Alive Jigsaw opens a horribly annoying nag screen with a shrilly, crowing rooster. Unfortunately, you can’t disable the sound, which won’t stop until you’ve selected a puzzle. Although the app provides a library of pictures and animated clips, most users will likely want to use their own video files or images to make puzzles. However, because the program won’t let you browse your PC to add files, this process is a real pain, forcing you to copy items to the default folder. You can select the number of pieces up to 2,500, but you don’t get an option for changing piece style. The screen where you assemble your puzzle lets you zoom in on pieces with a magnifying glass, but omits trays for organizing pieces or a ghost image to guide you. If you really want to create animated jigsaws, this app may be one of your few options, but we think most folks should put it further down on their list.
